Innovation of the Year – Digital revolution. TAURON switched to blockchain
TAURON Group, as the first energy company in Poland, switches to blockchain, which will, in the end, allow the Group to eliminate the necessity of sending agreements in paper form. The technology implemented in TAURON allows one to save and store complete documents in a blockchain network, with an opportunity for a digital signature and a confirmation of service.

Solution provider for the sector – SAP Polska
SAP for Utilities Platform is the unquestionable market leader in the utility sector.
The majority of big organizations functioning in Poland use SAP technologies. They are connected with back-office solutions (finances, controlling, HR and payroll) and billing, customer service, or enterprise asset management.
The newest SAP S/4HANA system functioning in a cloud went live in our client – Veolia. In April 2022, PGE chose and started implementing the S/4HANA for the Utility system for billing and their customer management in Turnover and Distribution.
The SAP S/4HANA system in a cloud is a comprehensive solution based on modern technologies, e.g., artificial intelligence and machine learning – dedicated to utility sector companies and other industries. Moreover, SAP offers advanced intelligent technical asset management solutions using the most modern IT technologies.

Investment Initiative of the Year – Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe Westinghouse Electric Company
The award was connected with the resolution of the government of Poland on the choice of the AP 1000 technology by Westinghouse Electric Company for the first nuclear power plant in Poland and the signing by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe company of the cooperation agreement with Westinghouse Electric Company, as well as the contract for pre-design works in 10 substantive areas. The signed agreements stipulated the main rules and subsequent business steps, which will be taken by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe and Westinghouse this year and will bring significantly closer to the beginning of works on the conceptual design of the nuclear power plant. Its objective is to deliver clean energy for a stable and predictable process, which also means the energy security improvement of the country.
The award was collected by Mirosław Kowalik, President of the Management Board, Westinghouse Electric Poland, and Łukasz Młynarkiewicz President of the Management Board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.
Leader of ESG – GRENEVIA
The area of ESG is a critical element of the development strategy of FAMUR Gropu, which is now under transformation into Grenevia, the first industrial concern in Poland, which invests in projects using the trend of green transformation. Famur’s so far activity and Grenavia’s business and development objectives are closely connected with the impact on climate and the environment. It constitutes a shift from an emission business to a clean economy. It started with an ESG component when the company began its sustainable business transformation that finished with its change into Grenevia.

Manager of the Year – Alicja Rybczyńska, CIO, Veolia Poland
Alicja Rybczyńska has been directing the IT Department of Veolia Group in Poland for 4.5 years. The company consequently implements its digitalization strategy to the greatest extent in this part of Europe, so far as energy companies and public service companies. In Veolia Group, 8 for 10 IT projects are realized in cloud technology. It allowed to eliminate of a bottleneck on the part of the company’s own ICT infrastructure, increased the volume of projects realized simultaneously, increased the level of cyber-security in the Group, increased the competencies of IT Department employees, and most importantly, reduced the carbon footprint of information processing in the Group by
50%!

Man of the Year – Rafał Gawin, President of the Energy Regulatory Office
Dr inż. Rafał Gawin has been connected with the Energy Regulatory Office since 2004, and in 2009 he was appointed by the President of the Council of Ministers to the position of the Energy Regulatory Office. The Competition Jury decided to award President Gawin for his initiative and determination in pursuing the development of distribution networks in Poland. Without this achievement, you could not efficiently transform the energy market. Thanks to President Gawin’s involvement, the sector regulator and energy companies reached an agreement, and the first stage of work on his project was finished last year. Namely, the Charter of efficient transformation of the Polish power engineering distribution networks was signed.
